There was no significant primary outcome (CHD) benefit for amlodipine or lisinopril compared to chlorthalidone. There was no difference in stroke incidence, a secondary outcome, between the chlorthalidone and amlodipine groups but stroke was significantly more common in the lisinopril compared to chlorthalidone group (RR 1.15, 95% CI 1.02-1.30).
