This is the 1st Deus ex machine story that I liked. I even favourited it. You really handled it well like a surgeon handles his scalpel. Kudos.
However, the there is one flaw. a full body MRI I get annoyed when patients ask for it. A brain MRI, those get done every day, a full brain MRI, that is doable. But a full body MRI is too much for an average citizen

An MRI scanner has a hugh electromagnetic field when it is running. The object in Scott's eye is a steel bomb fragment which has ferrious properties (i.e., its magnetic). well personally I would guess as a long fan of the sci fi genre that the MRI function was reading the natural magnetic spectrum and who it was being impeded by the person or object in question the MRI as a natural machine needs much higher levels of magnetism but theoretically with much more sensitive receptors then natural background fields could be used.

I know, I should accept the story as is and not look too deeply considering the supertech you have created for this world but when using an established tech with limits as the basis... It bugs me a little.
